A Taste of Heritage: Team Dinner with Ceebu Jën

We recently enjoyed a wonderful team evening that brought both delicious food and cultural heritage to the table. Cécile and Maeva prepared Ceebu Jën, Senegal’s iconic one-pot dish for us — a flavorful combination of fish, broken rice, and tomato sauce.

Ceebu Jën takes its name from the Wolof words ceeb (rice) and jën (fish), reflecting its deep roots in the culinary traditions of Saint-Louis. In 2021, the dish was added to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.

The traditional dish was accompanied by cooked vegetables, salad, and homemade refreshments by Cécile: Bissap juice, ginger juice, and bouye juice – yum!

The evening was filled with warmth, laughter, and lively conversations, a perfect reminder of how shared meals can bring people together and open windows into one another’s cultures.
