Save the Date! Film Screening & Discussion: ANOTHER SUMMER

Date: 5 December 2025 | 19:30
Location: Top Kino, Rahlgasse 1, Wien
Duration: 104 min., OmeU (Original version with subtitles)

We are pleased to highlight the screening of ANOTHER SUMMER (David B. Edwards, Alžběta Kovandová-Baronicková), co-organized by our team member Anna-Marie Kroupová. The film tells the stories of Afghan and Ukrainian refugees in Europe, capturing both their experiences and the unique process of its creation. Shot in July 2022 by first-time filmmakers from Afghanistan (American University of Afghanistan), Ukraine (Central European University), and the US (Williams College), the participants were themselves refugees and had no prior filmmaking experience.

The screening will be followed by a discussion on the film’s approach and its role in encouraging processes of self-historicization in the context of displacement.

Moderation: Anna Seidel (University of Vienna & MUSMIG – Museum der Migration)
Participants: Alžběta Kovandová-Baronicková (film director), Malena Martínez Cabrera (Gewächshaus network), Vadym Naiko (student-filmmaker)
Partners & Organizers: Anna Seidel & Anna-Marie Kroupová (University of Vienna, Department of Slavonic Studies & MUSMIG – Museum der Migration)
