Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, Oskar Kokoschka-Platz 2 (Ferstl-Trakt, Seminarraum 2)
In two days: a roundtable that asks how futures are imagined — and who gets to shape them.
Under the title “Hijacked Futures. Counter (Hi)stories and Complex Temporalities in Modern and Contemporary Art,”this discussion brings together Noit Banai, Tonica Hunter, and Eva Kernbauer to reflect on the role of the arts in articulating temporalities and future scenarios.
Starting from the premise that the future is always a fiction, the roundtable explores how artistic practices can intervene in dominant narratives — opening up counter-(hi)stories and imagining futures beyond simple dystopian or utopian frameworks.
Organized by Barbara Reisinger (University of Applied Arts Vienna), Laura Bohnenblust (Heritage Studies, University of Vienna), and Thomas Moser (TU Vienna, New Design University).
All are welcome!
