Beyond Borders: Austrian and Swiss Art History in the Global Context

The annual conference of the Swiss Association of Art Historians (VKKS), organised in cooperation with the University of Vienna, the Austrian Association of Art Historians (VöKK), and the Swiss National Museum, brings together scholars and museum professionals to discuss Austrian and Swiss art history in a global context.

The program addresses themes such as colonial legacies, provenance research, museum practices, architecture, and art and environment, featuring keynote lectures, panel discussions, and guided museum tours. Noémie Étienne will moderate panels including “Museums of the Future: Potentials and Challenges”, with contributions from Hanin Hannouch (Weltmuseum Wien) and Denise Tonella (Swiss National Museum).
