This event brings together esteemed scholars and curators to explore how reproductions—ranging from digital copies to AI-generated art—are challenging traditional notions of authenticity, originality, and artistic value.

This roundtable is organized in partnership with the European Research Council and the GloCo research project, and forms part of the 14th edition of the Festival of Art History, taking place from June 6 to 8, 2025, at the historic Château de Fontainebleau. This year’s theme is "The True, the False", with Austria as the guest country.

Come explore how copies—far from being mere imitations—can challenge, replace, and even redefine the idea of the original in contemporary art.
