Maeva Pimo Presents at “Queering the Archives – Queering the Exhibitions” Conference in France

This week, Maeva Pimo contributed to the international conference “Queering the Archives – Queering the Exhibitions”, held on May 13–14, 2025, at Esad TALM-Tours and Ensa Bourges in France. This event was part of the research project Queering the Exhibition – Queering the Archive, organized by the École nationale supérieure d'art de Bourges and the École supérieure d'art et de design de TALM-Tours, in collaboration with the InTRu laboratory (EA 6301 – University of Tours), and supported by the French Ministry of Culture.

Maeva Pimo's presentation, titled “Mémoire queer et de genre au Cameroun : Entre ‘mal d’archives’ et ‘violence archivale’”, addressed the challenges of queer and gender memory in Cameroon, focusing on the issues of archival absence and archival violence.

The conference brought together scholars, artists, and activists to explore alternative practices related to minority collections, memories, and heritages. It aimed to challenge dominant norms in heritage constitution, exhibition, and the narratives they impose, fostering a queer agency and openness to the 'object that slips away.'
