New Blog Post: Caring for Sāmoan Ancestors in Berlin
We have published a new blog post on the GloCo Blog by Ruby Satele, a PhD candidate originally from Sāmoa and currently based in Vienna, reflecting on a recent visit to the Museum of Pre- and Early History in Berlin.
During her visit, Ruby engaged in practices of care for Sāmoan ancestors held in museum storage, drawing on song, prayer, and the offering of garlands (ula). Her reflections explore rematriation not only as a future return, but as an ongoing responsibility of care, presence, and relationality within museum spaces.
In the blog post, Ruby shares personal insights from this visit and discusses how her research brings together theory and practice to challenge power imbalances and foster greater justice in museums and universities.
